Douglas C. Clark Obituary
Douglas Charles "Herbie" Clark, 89, of Colleyville passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at a local nursing home. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Doug was the son of Carrie and John Lowe Beattie Clark, born in 1924 in Fort Worth. He attended Carter Riverside High School and Weatherford Junior College. He served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa. When he returned home from military service, Doug worked for Swift & Co. meat packers. In 1955, he became manager and subsequent owner of Hart's Garage on North Main Street in the Fort Worth Stockyards. He served his customers there for more than 25 years before moving his business to North Beach Street in Haltom City. After retirement, he enjoyed remodeling houses, maintaining rental property, working on the family farm, raising cattle and driving his tractor. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Michael Clark, in 2003. Survivors: His wife and soulmate of 62 years, Mary Green Clark; sister, Patsy Riddle; his children, Patrice Dotson, MaryAnn Ulissey and Alan Clark; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
