Thomas Oscar "T.O." Allan Obituary
Thomas Oscar "T.O." Allan passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Ave., Fort Worth 76107, with a reception following. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, and if you would like to make a donation in memory of T.O., please consider giving to the Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Family Fund or other veterans' organization, in his name. T.O. was born in New Kensington, Pa., on March 12, 1939, to the late Martha Johnson and Thomas Giles Allan. He graduated from Duke University in 1961 and entered the United States Marine Corps. Stationed at Camp Pendleton, he served as tank commander, attaining the rank of captain, until his discharge in December of 1964. The following month T.O. entered The University of Pennsylvania Wharton School from which he received an MBA in marketing. After working for Gallo Wineries in Modesto, Calif., he moved to New York City as president of a subsidiary of National Student Marketing Corp. In 1971, T.O. married Suzanne Johnson of Oak Brook, Ill., at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church chapel in Manhattan and, shortly thereafter, moved with the company to Chicago. The following year, he joined Collegiate Products, Inc. as a partner in Tulsa, Okla., where he and his wife lived for 23 years and where their two sons were born. Eventually, he became CPI's owner and relocated to Fort Worth. T.O. was a devoted father and husband whose love for his sons and wife ran deep, passing along his strong sense of right and wrong, honesty and fairness to them. He was a member of MENSA and valued a good education, formal or otherwise. He loved anything with an engine, songs with great lyrics and a good beat, the intricacies of baseball, and a well-told joke. Survivors: T.O. is survived by Suzy, his wife of 42 years; son, Matthew Talbot Allan, wife, Twila Dawn Peterson, and their children, Ava Elizabeth and Maxwell Thomas; son, Lucas Edward Allan, wife, Jessica McGee Bryant, and son, Brock Bryant, all of Fort Worth; sister, Carol Stockton and husband, Jim, of Springfield, Va.; sister-in-law, Marsha Tyrrell and husband, Don, of Parish, Fla.; five nieces and nephews and their families; and many friends.
