Daryl Romalis Barrett Obituary
Daryl Romalis Barrett, 63, passed away late Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, 2013, in Mansfield. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Broadway Baptist Church, Fort Worth. He was born in Sweetwater in 1950, but spent most of his life growing up in Waco. He attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in environmental design, and a master's degree in architecture. Daryl had an exceptional eye for design, which he used throughout his life, as an architect, photographer, gallery owner, real estate developer, and when planning his house. He loved living a big life, his way, and being his own boss, particularly when it came to combining two favorites, sports and art, into Sports Legacy Art Gallery at the Ballpark in Arlington. Daryl was forever seen with a bottle of Snapple - Diet Peach Iced Tea - or as he referred to it, "nectar of the gods." He loved being with friends and family, whether that meant getting together for "Barrett Christmas," watching Aggies football games, going to concerts, playing poker, or even coaching softball. Survivors: His parents, Donald and Darlene Barrett; his children, Ashley and Brett (Nicole); his grandson, Joel; and his brother and sister, Doyle Barrett and Darla Lawless.
