Mary Margaret McDonald Rhea Obituary
After a short, courageous battle with cancer, Mary Margaret McDonald Rhea transitioned into the next life Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, with her friends by her side. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at First Presbyterian Church in Itasca. Interment: Itasca Cemetery. Margaret was born to Mary Clontz and Gordon S. McDonald on Aug. 29, 1945. She graduated from Itasca High School in 1963, then attended Tarleton State College before moving to Huntsville, where she worked for The Huntsville Item, the sister paper to her family-owned The Itasca Item. In the 1970s, she moved to Arlington, where she worked for a number of years at the Arlington Daily News. For many years, she served as head of the accounting department for Glen Terrel and Co. In 1990, she moved back to Itasca and began a 16-year career at Hilco Electric Cooperative. For the past 13 years, she had worked in the marketing department in a position that she loved. She was honored twice by the Itasca Chamber of Commerce: once with a special community service award and later being inducted into the Hometown Hall of Fame. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Itasca. She will be remembered for her friendships and her wicked sense of humor.
