Donna Louise D'Arcy Pearcy, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Olney, the Rev. Jay Beavers, former pastor, officiating. Interment: 3 p.m. in Erath Garden of Memories in Stephenville. Family visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Memorials: May be made to the Olney Community Library, Box 67, Olney, Texas 76374; or First United Methodist Church, Box 305, Olney, Texas 76374. Donna was born Dec. 30, 1929, in Weatherford, the first-born child to Daniel and Louise D'Arcy. Her sister, Linda, came along 10 years later. Her family purchased a drugstore on the square in Stephenville, and they made the move when Donna was 12 years old. That is where she met A.R. Pearcy. After high school graduation, she began college at Tarleton and transferred to TCU for one year. She then transferred to the University of Texas and graduated with a bachelor of arts and a teaching certificate in the spring of 1952. She was a member of Chi Omega while attending the University of Texas. She married the love of her life, Alfred Ross "A.R." Pearcy, on June 27, 1953, at First Methodist Church in Stephenville. A.R. was in the United States Air Force, so they made their homes in San Angelo and in Chandler, Ariz. While stationed in Waco, she lived in Stephenville with her parents until her first son, Daniel Ross, was born Oct. 4, 1954. A.R. was later stationed at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston. After one year, A.R. left the Air Force and the young family moved to Olney where he entered the oil business. Two more sons, David Shannon and Alfred Wayne, were born. Donna was a full-time mother and wife. She was very active in the Methodist church and the community where she served on the board of the Olney Community Library and Arts Center for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Alpha Night Circle, the Tarleton Alumni Association and had been a Rainbow Girl in Weatherford. Donna was an avid painter and artist. She earned her private pilot's license and together she and A.R. enjoyed a lot of flying. They shared a passion for travel and have camped all over North America. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Surivors: Donna is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, A.R. Pearcy of Olney; sons, Dan of Fort Worth, David and wife, Manuela, of Cross Roads and Wayne of Dallas; her beautiful grandchildren, Mallory, Justin, Matthew and Jason; brother-in-law, Barry Stone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
