Ralph P. Sherman Obituary
Ralph P. Sherman passed from this life Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, after a brief illness. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Melvin Cemetery. Visitation: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Ralph was born to Jesse and Allie Mae Sherman on Jan. 3, 1925, in Melvin. He was raised in McCulloch County with his four brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received several medals during his service. Following his separation, he graduated from Baylor University and served as a Texas state trooper out of Pecos. After working many years for Sears & Roebuck, Ralph's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own convenience stores, pawnshops and a childcare center, invest in real estate and ultimately spend years as a realtor in both Fort Worth and Brownwood. Survivors: Wife, Ruth Sherman; children, Bruce Sherman and wife, Carolyn, Deena Nichols and husband, Jim, Jess Sherman and Mike Sherman and wife, Melissa; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
