Chester Samuel "CS" Gotcher Jr., 86, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at his home in Fort Worth, surrounded by his wife of 68 years and his loving family. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Plainview Baptist Church, 12379 FM 1173, Krum. Interment: Plainview Cemetery. Visitation: 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Greenwood. Memorials: May be made to Happy Hill Farm, Box 1149, Granbury, Texas 76048, or Ridglea Baptist Church Heart Fund, 6037 Calmont Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76116. Chester was born May 8, 1927, in Ponder. He grew up on the family farm in Ponder and graduated from Ponder High School. He was a 14-year Navy veteran and attended North Texas State College, now the University of North Texas, and Texas Christian University. Chester had many friends from his 30 years at Lockheed and five at Brown and Root in Houston. Chester was a quiet, gentle and loving person. Dedicated to family and friends, it always put a smile on his face when they came to visit, especially after a stroke left him nearly without speech. He loved listening to all the stories heard when visitors were at his and Jeannie's home. Chester was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle. Chester was preceded in death by two sons, David Gotcher and Gary Gotcher; parents, Chester and Hattie Gotcher; two brothers, Eulon "Jack" Gotcher and Kenneth Gotcher; and three sisters, Mabel Brittian, Dorothy Hix and Norma Gotcher. Survivors: Wife, Jeannie Gotcher, son, Chris Gotcher and wife, Kaye; grandson, Chris Gotcher Jr. and wife, Gena; sisters, Mary Elkins and Glenda Hatridge and husband, Kenneth; brother, Dan Gotcher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
