James "Jim" Britton Obituary
James "Jim" Britton of Fredericksburg passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at his home at the age of 86. Service: 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating. Interment: Burial of cremains will take place at a later date. Visitation: The family will greet friends 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Schaetter Funeral Home. Memorials: May be made in his memory to Hill Country Hospice, Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department or a . Jim was born July 31, 1927, in Houston, the son of Hershal Britton and Lena Thompson Britton. He married Martha McKennon on Dec. 30, 1950, in Fort Worth. At 16, Jim enlisted in the Navy after lying about his age. He served in the Pacific theater during World War II. Jim moved to Fort Worth as an electrician and retired after 40 years. He just received his 60-year award from the IBEW. After retirement Jim enjoyed his life in Fredericksburg on his hill with his wife of 63 years, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, where he taught them to feed the deer. He also enjoyed his beloved Foxie. Survivors: His wife, Martha Jay Britton of Fredericksburg; children and spouses, Wallace and Susie Britton of Fredericksburg, Jim and Cathy Britton of Mansfield and Monita Cebell of Katy; grandchildren and spouses, Tiffany and Justin Pollock, Jennifer and Tom Goldstein, Myron Fiedler, Melody Fiedler and Lindsey Britton; great-grandchildren, Brianne, Robert, Krista and Kelsey; and sister and husband, Virginia and Marshall Martin of Trinity.
