Jerry Petrillo Obituary
Jerry Petrillo, retired electrical engineer for Bell Helicopter, died peacefully Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Drawing Room of Thompson's Harveson & Cole. Gennaro Anthony Petrillo Jr. was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Gennaro Anthony Sr. and Lucy Vitali Petrillo. After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, he met and married Mary Jo Pollard in Niagara Falls. They moved to Fort Worth in 1952 where Jerry took a position with Bell Helicopter. They were founding members of St. Andrew Catholic Church where they renewed vows to celebrate their 25th anniversary with Msgr. Charles B. King. Jerry and Mary loved to watch golf and attend the Colonial every year. They also were members of the Elks Club where they danced every Saturday night. A loving grandfather, "Pawpaw" was a devoted family man. He was also a great cook who prepared the traditional big spaghetti dinner on Christmas Eve. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary; son, John Michael; and grandson, Michael Ruggere. Survivors: Daughters, Tina Smith and husband, Gene, Melodie Petrillo and Victoria Ruggere; grandchildren, Blair Smith and wife, Tara, Mallory Smith, Amy Warnock and David Ruggere; great- grandchildren, Emma Kate Worrel, Trey, Madison and Abigail Warnock, and Kiaya Ruggere.
