Ski was the most influential graduate professor I had; I would not have enjoyed the success I did as a clinical social worker nor as a person without her mentorship.
The field of social work is a richer for her contributions; she impacted on the lives of thousands of people directly as well as indirectly.
You have my respect, admiration, and eternal appreciation!

You wrote about many controversial issues even before they descended upon us; you appreciated 'sustainability' even before it became a fashionable world; you were gentle and kind..You will live in our memories for long.

Ski, you opened so many doors for me and make my time as a student so meaningful. I learned so much about myself because of the assignments you gave us and I never worked harder. I admired your keeping up standards over the years when so many let them slip. Those students that overcame their fears of taking a course from you were rewarded with so much. I will miss you the rest of my life.

Ski was a "one of a kind" woman. I knew her as a friend who loved to meet for Mexican food and a beer if she could be drawn away from whichever book she was currently writing. She always had a sweater or jacket with her even in July because wherever we went she got cold. Ski had a wicked good sense of humor who told a funny joke amid her own laughter. Characterizing her humor as droll, she made us laugh too. She was not a fan of sleeping in a tent but had a good time when we went to an outdoor weekend music festival. I know she was a great teacher; not because I was her student but because whenever I met one, she told me that Ski had made a difference in her life. There can be no more fitting epitaph.
With love and sadness,
Sydney
