Ronald Craig Rockwood Obituary
Ronald Craig Rockwood of Hurst passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016. Memorial service: Noon Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Ronald was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on June 9, 1947, with osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disorder which causes brittle bones and stunts growth. He fought from that day forward to live as normal a life as possible in spite of his debilitating condition. He was a graduate of Richland High School in Fort Worth and the University of Texas at Arlington. Subsequently he worked as a computer programmer at Bell Helicopter for 20 years before his condition made it impossible for him to continue. He was quick-witted and interested in computer technology, music, movies and especially movie soundtracks. He was a virtual encyclopedia of entertainment and historic knowledge. Ron was well liked by everyone he met and he inspired people with his perseverance in the face of his devastating condition. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kelley Rockwood; mother, Verna Rockwood; and father, Donald Rockwood. He will be missed but never forgotten. Survivors: Daughter, Karen Rockwood Robinson; grandchildren, Brett Robinson, Justin Robinson and Brian Robinson; brother, James Rockwood and wife, Regina White Rockwood; niece, Michelle Abitz and husband, Adam Abitz; nephew, Blake Rockwood; and great- niece and great-nephew, Ashley and Austin Abitz.
