When ever I visited Nan she always asked me about my garden and flowers. She always wanted to know what I was growing and if the flowers was pretty. She had a garden out back of her house before she got ill. There was all kind of vegetables and she also liked roses. I could tell she missed growing stuff and tending to it. I know she is in a beautiful garden now whet everything is beautiful.

Me and Mom Mother's Day

Things I remember mom telling me that "God knew I needed a daughter to help me". Everytime I did something for her she would sing "I am blessed every day I live I am blessed"; she came up with songs I never heard before. I'd say to mom, where do all those songs come from? She would say, "my heart", and I would say, "who put them there"?, she'd say JESUS did. Then mom would say something like, "do you think I'm spoiled? and I would say yes...and she would reply: "and I like it". "God only gives the best Mom". Mom and I drew alot closer in the last 5 years. She was so independent, but in the nursing home she became more humble and showed more appreciation toward the end. And she started kissing me all the time. About 2 months before she passed, she started saying how much she loved us, saying, "do you know how much I really love you"? Day before she died she hadn't said 2 words that day. And her last words to the family was "Forgive". Her two favorite songs were: 'Gone' and 'God on the Mountain'. "I love you Mom and I miss you".

Where do start? I have so many memories with grandmother like grits with way to much butter and sugar my parents would have died. Trips to the farm every Friday she would pick me up from school and it was fun all weekend like drinking coffee at 6 years old ect with a lot of sugar. As I got older she always made sure that us kids had what we needed and "what we wanted" . As I watched her concerned about the needs of others in the church and neighbor hood I learned the value of caring. As I grew older I would go by there and she would cook what I wanted for breakfast . Countless time she would give me "gas" money as she called it. This didn't stop even when I was married. She would bring us groceries things for the kids. She loved to talk she would say if I don't ask you won't know. Trips to k mart countless cap guns I could go on. I hope to be as good one day at grand parenting as my grand parents. Happy birthday in heaven gone but not forgotten.

So many memories with you grandmother. I drove by the park down the street from your house the other day and remembered all the times we where here. You devoted so much time to us grandkids and I have so many, many memories of you that will never be forgotten. You where truly a Godly example and best grandmother any grandson could have. Thanks for everything and you will always have a special place in my heart. Love you grandmother and miss you.

Grandmother made me feel welcome from the moment I met her. She always wanted to know how my garden was and if I was still cutting coupons. She always wanted to know if the boys needed jeans. I never had fried pork chops till I had hers. They were delicious. She taught me how to make chicken and dumplings. She loved butter. I remember she would make a bag of popcorn and then pour a half of stick of melted butter over it. I have many good memories with her. Happy birthday in heaven ❤

Nan Boatner was very special to me because she was my mother in law . The best thing she intrusted me with was her son Allan of whom she was very proud and had spoiled through the years and she was glad she had done it too !! That was her son and you give him what he wants she told me . She taught me to cook southern style , grits , black eye peas and cornbread ( I couldn't cook at all when we married so I needed lots of help ) and Allan would always say "that's not how my mom makes it " lol . Nan also taught me a love for gardening whether it be vegetables , flowers or roses Nan was very knowledgeable about it and made me a fan right away . I would rather have a rose bush than a bunch of flowers that won't last she would say . Nan was a child of God that always wanted to be used by him . Singing , missionetes , WM , visitation she loved working for God . She always had a servants heart . When we first got married she would come bring groceries, help with the laundry and always had time for her grandkids . I would come home from grocery shopping and my dishes would be done and laundry done and coupons cut , Nan loved doing coupons just to save us some money . We always had extra so when someone was in need we could help out , that was one of my favorite things she taught me is to give of myself and whatever I have . I loved her much and will miss her greatly but this I know she is singing over in glory land .

I'm blessed to have my Grandmother be such an important part of my life. She gave me her love of diet coke and her feisty personality which is why my family calls me lil Ruby. I loved helping her take care of her roses. She used to take me to McDonalds everyday and then we went to the dollar store or people watching at the mall and driving around visiting her friends(her driving could be as crazy as her!).She was always there to help others no matter what they needed.I miss her but know I'll see her again in Heaven, singing with the angels.

My wonderful Grandmother will be missed so much. What I will always remember about her is that she gave all the time. Her time, money and anything she had that you might need - she gave it. I'll miss her smile and funny personality. I will be sure that my two boys know all about her and how much she meant to me. I love you, Grandmother. I'll see you again real soon!!

I have many memories of Aunt Nan. A special memory is of her and Uncle Clarence coming to see me in Southern Baptist Hospital. I was very sick. She and I shared a special moment in prayer. It was such a comfort. When she was trying to adjust to her new surroundings in assisted living, our theme was "bloom where you are planted" We sure enjoyed that visit. We went to all the old streets in Houma that she remembered from growing up. Surely we all loved her greatly and will remember her always.

Aunt Nan was my favorite Aunt. She came to visit us every summer. We always went crabbing. She loved it. We would spend the whole day. We would go down to Robinson Canal in Little Calliou, Louisiana or we would drive down to Grand Isle, Louisiana. (Either place is at the end of the earth) We always had so much fun. I don't remember Diane and I getting into to much trouble although I am sure we did. I always looked forward to her visits and I always looked forward to visiting her and Uncle Clarence. She and Uncle Clarence went to a Tillery Family Reunion in Bastrop, LA in 2001 it was such a great visit with both of them. She will always be in my heart. She was such a great influence in my life. I miss her more than you know.

My sweet Grandmother, my most favorite 'grown up'. Words can't express how great of an impact she had on us all. Memories of Penny Princess, people watching while drinking a diet coke, Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners & many more will always be with me. She always told me to 'be sweet' & if you asked if she had been behaving she would say 'certainly not'. She asked me one time if she would know who PawPaw was when she got to heaven. I told her I had never been & she would have to let me know. To my sweet, loving Grandmother, I will always treasure the time we shared

Nan was always so welcoming and kind to me growing up. She always stopped to say "Hi" whenever she saw me out. She always had a smile and a story! She will be missed. All of Heaven rejoices today for a saint has come home! Love to all of the family. Prayers for peace and Comfort for you all.
Until we meet again Nan...
