So happy to have been able to meet Roy Lee Brown and hang a bit with him for 2 glorious days at the cowtown society of western music awards 2016! He was super nice, a real gentleman and still a great dancer/singer @ 95!

Roy Lee Brown will be missed by all who knew him. I had the privilege of visiting with him and Ellen some years ago, and they were such a gracious and loving couple. Roy Lee will be remembered for his service to America, to the city of Fort Worth, and to the world of music.

It was a real honor to know Roy Lee Brown and his wife Ellen. Working with Roy Lee on his tribute to Milton Brown and his Musical Brownies was a privilege I will never forget. I believe we shared a sense of satisfaction and pride in the resulting two volumes of music dedicated to the memory of his famous brother.
Roy Lee was a man of solid character and in my business dealings with him, I found him to be organized, reliable and totally trustworthy. Through our work together we became friends and I treasured his friendship!

I had several opportunities to speak and visit with Roy Lee about his brothers contributions to Western Swing Music. A musician in his own right who was dedicated to bring recognition to his brothers work...

Roy Lee was of incalculable help in researching my biography of his brother, western swing pioneer Milton Brown, which was published in 1994. I met Roy Lee in 1984, so it took 10 years of research - without the help of computers I might add - to complete the job. We became close during that time, so close that when I got married, Roy Lee voluntarily flew out from Texas in 1990 to sing at my wedding - he performed Mel Tillis' "Heart Over Mind" and Milton's "The Roseland Melody." I will never forget him for this.
