LAMBERT William James Lambert, age 82, of Lancaster, passed away July 1, 2007, in the Pickering House. He was born in Columbus on May 5, 1925, a son of the late William and Nellie (Sabine) Lambert. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. William was a graduate of Central High School, Columbus, Class of 1943, received his Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University and then received his Master's Degree from Ohio University. He started his working career with the Columbus Dispatch and worked there for many years. He then continued his career as a teacher, teaching at the Fairfield School for Boys, Ohio University and Hocking College. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis (Lissant) Lambert of Lancaster; sons, Dr. William Fredrick "Rick" (Renee) Lambert of Hendersonville, Tenn. and Mark (Corena) Lambert of Lancaster; daughters, Patricia (Michael) Bratton and Barbara (Dan) Kern, all of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren, Steven McAfee, John Lambert, Amy Lambert, Katy Bratton, Erik Bratton and Allen Cope; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kylie Darfus and Alexandria Shaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard Legg and a sister Katherine Smith. Friends may call at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster, Friday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Dr. John Beckett officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Rose Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to FairHoPe Hospice, 1111 E. Main St., Lancaster, Oh. 43130, in his memory.
