James Logsdon Obituary

Logsdon James Patrick Logsdon, age 67, died Thursday, March 30, 2017. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late James M. Logsdon and Mary Catherine (Irwin) Logsdon. Survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Kathleen (Ryan) Logsdon; his daughter Katherine (Brian) Mitchell, son Paul Logsdon, grandson Frederick Mitchell, sisters Mary Ann (Patrick) Salcone and Catherine Logsdon; brother Mark (Kristin) Logsdon, brothers-in-law Keary Ryan, Kevin (Jody) Ryan and sister-in-law Denise (Pat) Brady and cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends who supported him during the final phase of his life. Preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Paul A. Ryan, mother-in-law M. Eugenia (Feist) Ryan and brother-in-law Michael Ryan. Jim attended Bishop Watterson High School and Northwestern University. He retired from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. Everyone who knew Jim knew that he had a working knowledge of everything from the periodic table to building houses. We will miss his encyclopedic intelligence, generous spirit and eagerness to reach out to anyone that needed help. He loved his family and friends, learning and nature and his life was a reflection of that. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The LUNGevity Foundation (lungevity.org) or the charity of your choice.

I am so sorry to just hear of Jims passing. We worked together for 23 years and He was a true friend and great person. He was truly a Renaissance man and could converse about any topic or deal with any problem. My deepest regrets to the family.

What a GREAT person and friend. Jeff Soiu assisted in a small way in helping Jim build his house. What a fun undertaking. Jim and Jeff worked as carpenter house framers during our college summers and 2 winter breaks to pay for college. We tried to compare tans, jokes and translate what our fellow country workmen were teaching us. His 1950 Desoto got us to the jobs. Jeff considers it the best summers of his life working, laughing with Jim.

Jim made our Senior year memorable with Mike McNulty. Bye Bye Birdie, the bar scene, Jeff smuggled real beer on stage for Jim Logsdon and Mike McNulty.
