Daloia, Leonard R.  
Daloia Leonard R. Daloia, age 93, life-long native, passed away January 30, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. Leonard was born on January 12, 1922, to the late Michael and Grace (Montenaro) Daloia. On January 12, 1947, he married Virginia Marcum and she survives with two daughters, Grace C. (Valerio) Canini and Dee (Dr. Patrick) Fahey. Also surviving, are five grandchildren, Kristine Mandros, Jennifer Fahey Sears (Adam), Wendy Fahey Currier (David), Holly Fahey Babeaux (Benjamin) and Christopher Patrick Fahey. Survived by two great-grandchildren, Londen Sears and Mae Currier. Leonard graduated from Central High School in June, 1940. His employment at Lazarus began in March, 1940 when he was chosen as one of seventeen seniors in a new school program called Sales Promotion, which was created to get depression-era jobs for new graduates. Three months later, Leonard was ordered into the US Army as part of The Ohio National Guard's federal call-up of troops. He served five years - three and a half in the Pacific. He saw combat in New Georgia, Bougainville, Solomon Islands and Luzon, Philippines. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Presidential Unit Citation. Upon return to Lazarus, he was a copywriter, ad manager, Publicity Director and Vice President of Publicity/Advertising. He retired in 1981. Leonard was active in many civic, business, charitable and professional activities. A current member of Holy Spirit Parish and the 37th Division Veterans Associations. We will miss this very engaging, resilient and highly trustworthy man. The family would like to thank his family physician, Dr. James Soldano, for his conscientious care for many years, along with all the nurses and staff members at Mount Carmel Hospice. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 11 a.m., until time of his funeral at 1:30 p.m., at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Rev. Fr. Dickendesher, Robert Dean - Gahanna  
Dickendesher Robert Dean Dickendesher, age 87 of New Albany, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015. Bob was raised in Gahanna, son of the late Albert and Arline Dickendesher. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence "Ileane" Dickendesher, and brothers David and Eric Dickendesher. Bob graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School, Class of 1947, but prior to graduation, he left school to proudly serve his country from 1945-1947 in the U.S. Coast Guard where he served during WWII. Bob worked as an electrician and was a member and Past President of IBEW Local #683. He was also a member of the New Albany Historical Society, Gahanna VFW, and former owner of Eagle's Pizza. Bob was a very social man who made friends easily. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and told the best stories. He will be greatly missed by his children, Gene (Becky) Swickard, Nancy (Dennis) Seligman, and Mary Beth (Brad) Fry; grandchildren, Jason (Claire) Priestas, Nathan (Trisha) Swickard, Courtney (Lorenzo) Romagnoli, and Kevin and Tyler Fry; great grandchildren, Gabriel Swickard and Calvin Priestas; sister, Mary (Richard) Gayek; sisters-in-law, Patty Dickendesher and Marlene Thomas; and many other extended family and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Deavers Virginia (Baer) Deavers, 90, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015. Virginia was born July 6, 1924 to Dana and Ella (Dains) Baer; attended Meigs Co. Schools and was a 1941 graduate of Pomeroy High School; was a member for over 50 years of Reynoldsburg Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, son Robert Deavers, grandson's wife Daisy Deavers, and second husband Merrill Jones. Virginia is survived by her grandson, Ron; great-granddaughters, Nicole and Natalie Deavers; daughter-in-law, Mary Deavers; sister, Carolyn Salser of Racine, OH; nephew, Denny (Linda) Evans of Racine, OH; and dear in-laws, friends, and neighbors. Family will receive friends Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 10 a.m.-12Noon at Reynoldsburg Church of the Nazarene, 1340 Crest Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068. DeVors, Mary Marvene  
DeVors Mary Marvene DeVors, 90, of Ashville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Pickaway Manor in Circleville. She was born June 15, 1923 in Circleville, OH to the late Creed and Mary Myrtle (Fowler) Ward. Marvene was a member of the Ashville Church of Christ in Christian Union for many years and was involved in the Helping Hands group at the church. She was well known in the community for being a Nanny and a baby sitter for many years. Preceded in death by her husband Richard DeVors in 1980, sons Richard G. DeVors in 1996, and David A DeVors in 2014, brothers Robert and Neil Ward, sister Helen Cummins. Survived by a daughter, Janice Blankenship of Circleville; son, Marvin (Dixie) DeVors of Circleville; daughter-in-law, Joyce DeVors of Ashville; four grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren; sisters, Vera (Earl) Smith of Circleville, Geralene Lightfoot of London, and Margaret Watson of Asvhille; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Ashville Church of Christ in Christian Union, 420 Long St., Ashville, with Pastor Don Blankenship and Rev. Kenneth Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Harrison Township Cemetery, So. Bloomfield. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the OLIVER-CHEEK FUNERAL HOME, 420 W. Main St., Ashville. Douglas, William David "Bill"  
Douglas William David "Bill" Douglas, age 55, passed away January 24, 2015 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after battling a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family, his children, mother, sister and two of his daughters finance's. Bill was born September 5, 1959 in Bucyrus, OH. Son of the late David Lee Douglas, and survived by his mother, Rose Ellen (Brinkley) Douglas. Bill was saved and baptized at the age of 12 years old at the Bridgeport Baptist Church in Bridgeport, WV. He later served his country by joining the Navy and becoming a submariner. He was Honorably Discharged. After leaving the Navy, he moved to Columbus and married, Cheryl Sue Williams-Douglas, who later passed away February 11, 2003. Bill worked as a Plant Production Manager at American Corregated, located on Alkire Rd. for several years. He had also worked at King Coil and Mattress and Tim Horton's. Preceding him in death, besides his father and wife was one daughter (infant) Clarisa Marie Douglas, three paternal uncles Mark Wayne Douglas, Richard Westfall and Glenn Miley, one maternal uncle Howard Jr. Brinkley, two brothers-in-law Richard W. Snyder and Edgar Dale King. He was also preceded in death on his wife's side one brother-in-law Delbert Williams. He is survived by his four children, Patricia Ann Douglas (Aaron Ferguson), Rose Ellen (Rosie) Douglas (Tommy Stone), William David (Billy) Douglas II and Eva Alma Douglas; also surviving are his mother, Rose E. Douglas; and sister, Sonja L. Snyder-King, both living in Columbus; nephew, Sean David (Samantha) Snyder; four great nephews, Cameron Snyder, Ashton Snyder, Brenton Snyder and James Swiger; one great niece, Destiny Snyder. Survived on his wife's side, three nieces, Terra Williams, Maggie Williams and Cheryl Detrick; one great nephew, Cody Williams; two brothers-in-law, Billy (Pam) Williams and Richard Detrick; two sisters-in-law, Frances (Frannie) Williams and Della (DeeDee) Detrick. He is survived by two paternal aunts, Jerri Westfall-Miley of OH and Janet Douglas of IN; one maternal aunt, Norma Brinkley; he has many cousins as well. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, grilling, sports (i.e. Football etc.), being with his family and friends, music, his beloved mountains in WV, and went to church at the Vineyard in Grove City. Bill was friendly, loyal, a good son, brother, and a wonderful devoted father. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed in the days to come.
