Obituaries from the Past Week

Easter, Barbara R.
Easter Barbara R. Easter passed away peacefully on May 13, 2015 following a brief illness. She will be missed by all who knew her as a kind and loving person who enjoyed many pursuits throughout her long life, but for whom the most important things were her extended family and her faith. She was born December 28, 1925 in Washta, Cherokee County, Iowa to Alma and John Ritz, who pre-deceased her. She graduated with a degree in music education from Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls. It was there she met her future husband, Marvin, and they were married on August 15, 1948. Following a move to Columbus, Barbara quickly became involved in her children's and church activities. She taught pre-school at North Broadway United Methodist Church, taught piano lessons, and was an active member in her P.E.O. Sisterhood local chapter. At the urging of a friend, she became a real estate agent, and had a successful and much-respected career with Ward & Krumm, Holzer-Wollam, and HER over the next 30+ years. She was a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors $5 million dollar club at a time when that was a truly big accomplishment. Barbara is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvin; also surviving are daughter, Susan Cochran (Bob) of Columbus; son, Mark of Columbus, and son, Steven (Kathy) of Heath; granddaughters, Jennifer Johnson of Columbus, Denise Rutter (Brett) of England; and great-grandchildren Mason, Liam, Claire, and Erin; also niece, Linda Watts (Pete) of Dublin; and great-nieces, Megan Watts of Chicago and Kate Watts of Dublin. A memorial service will be held at Wesley Glen Retirement Community's auditorium on Wednesday, May 20th at 1:30 p.m. The address is 5155 North High Street in Columbus. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to women's college scholarships, payable to PEO Sisterhood, Chapter CU. Donations may be mailed to Janet Rusanowsky, 3008 Neil Avenue #73D, Columbus, OH 43202. Barbara's extended family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, staff and chaplain of Riverside Hospital, 7th Floor Palliative Medicine Team, for the remarkable care they provided Barbara. Their kindness, concern, and empathy are truly appreciated. Arrangements by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085.
