Contosta (Oszko) Betty A. Contosta, age 87, May 4, 2015 at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Former member of St. Leo Church and current member of St. Mary German Village, where she was active in several committees in addition to Merion Village Association and a resident of The Villas at St. Therese. Preceded in death by husband Quentin and four sisters. Survived by children, Nicholas (Judy), Tom (Dianne), Charles, Mark (Jeannette), Jane (Dan) Cervi and Patricia (John) Handley; grandchildren, Mandy, Tony, Tommy, Natalie, Nathan, Marie, Aaron, Jordan, Quentin and Alex; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St., Rosary 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Corbett Florence (Scherer) Corbett, 92, passed away May 1, 2015 peacefully in her sleep. Born May 24, 1922 in Fresno, OH. to the late Albert and Bernice Scherer. Preceded in death by husband Charles E. Corbett, Sr. in 1991, brothers Carl and Raymond Scherer. Flossy was a 1940 graduate of Fresno, OH High School where she was an active basketball and softball player. She was a proud employee of Topps and Rinks Dept. Stores for many years. She was an amazing homemaker. Friends and family always joked that you could eat off the floors of her home. She was a 60+ year member of East Columbus Christian Church/Vineyard Christian Church. Survived by her children, Claudette and Ret. USAF Col. James Wilson, Montgomery, AL, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. Charlie and Joann Corbett, Rehoboth, DE and Connie and Bruce Hamler, Columbus, OH; grandchildren, USAF Capt. Creek, Ruth J.  
Creek Ruth J. Creek, age 94, of Columbus, peacefully passed away May 4, 2015 at Serenity House in Grove City. Ruth was born September 8, 1920 to the late Rupert and Jennie Jamison in Scioto County, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Creek and several siblings. Survivors include daughters, Barbara (David) Easterbrook, Leslye (Chuck Johnston) Creek and Kelly (John) Creek-Shasky; grandchildren, Kristen and Samantha Shasky, Jennifer and John (Susan) Lass, and Jessica (Mike) King; numerous great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a gentle soul who never uttered a swear word. She was an avid walker and loved to sew, play Scrabble and attend yard sales. She read voraciously including cookbooks that enabled her, when as a young girl she won a live turkey in a coloring contest, to cook the turkey herself. As a single mother supporting her young daughter and teen-age brother, she eked out a living behind the cosmetic counter of Woolworth's. With the bombing of Pearl Harbor she proudly became a Rosie the Riveter and built airplanes at the local Curtiss-Wright Plant at 4 times the pay. When WWII ended she married her beloved Donald, raised two more girls and worked for a local insurance company typing forms on her trusty Underwood typewriter at home as an early telecommuter. Later Ruth delivered store ads around the neighborhood as an independent contractor for Ads Distributing Service, Inc. Friends may visit Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City, Ohio, where funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday. Pastor Sue Ellen Miller officiating. Danieley Barbara Carol Hazelwood Danieley, age 69. Born April 22, 1946 Died May 2, 2015. Preceded in death by parents Kensie and Mary Lou Danieley, brother Richard Clay Danieley, sister Margaret Sparkweather. Survived by husband, Fred Tierney; daughter, Tammy (Howard) Johnson; son, Harold (Billie Jo) Hazelwood, Jr.; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack and Mike (Darlene) Danieley; sister, Janice Hicks; loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; plus many foster children and her lifelong friend, Digger. Duffey Charles Patrick "Pat" Duffey, age 62, of Centerburg, OH, passed away May 3, 2015 at home. Employed by Shamrock Towing, Inc. Pat loved the outdoors, boating, camping, cars and racing. Survived by brothers, Tim, Mike, George and Denny Duffey; sister, Sue Shively; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 49 W. Church Street, Centerburg, Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Lock Cemetery. Egan, Mildred L.  
Egan Mildred L. Egan, age 90, of Reynoldsburg, passed away on April 30, 2015, at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. Mildred was born September 2, 1924 to the late Robert and Margaret (Tehan) Bolte in Cincinnati. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory H.S., Columbus. Mildred is survived by her children, Michael Egan, Kathleen Egan, Maureen Egan-Simons (Roger Simons), Patrick Egan, Colleen Egan (Tom VandenBush), Terrence Egan (Kathy), Sheila Egan (Jon Armstrong); grandchildren, Brian Egan, Kevin and Eric Simons, Ryan Egan (Sarah), Alexander and Nicholas VandenBush, Erin and Shannon Egan, Samuel Marotta; great-grandchildren, Ireland and London Egan; sister-in-law, Virginia Bolte; brother-in-law, Fred Koch; dear family friends, Mary Bauer, Paul Riggle; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Egan, brother Robert Bolte, sisters Marjorie (William) Kelly, Marilyn (Norbert) Moushey, and Miriam Bolte. Millie retired after a long career at Weekly Reader (Xerox/Field Publications). She enjoyed life long friendships with many colleagues. A visitation will be held on THURSDAY, May 14, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at the PFEIFER FUNERAL HOME, Reynoldsburg. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on FRIDAY, May 15, 2015, at 11 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1051 Waggoner Road, Reynoldsburg. Msgr. David Funk officiating. Emswiler, James E.  
Emswiler James E. Emswiler, of Bluffton, SC, died on November 28, 2014. He was born August 16, 1920, in Elkhart, Indiana, son of Henry and Hazel Emswiler. At age one the family moved to the home of his father in Columbus, Ohio. He lived there until moving to Hilton Head with his wife Vicki and daughter Cathy in 1985 and then to Bluffton in 2001. Jim attended the University of Chicago for 2 years, becoming a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. Later he received a BA and MA from Ohio State University, graduating Cum Laude. In 1943 he married Violet (Vicki) Kathleen Eddy after returning from a tour of duty as a P38 reconnaissance pilot in Algeria and Tunisia. Jim and Vicki were married for 63 years until her death from cancer in 2006. They spent a year in Oklahoma City where Jim was stationed at Will Rogers Field. A 2nd tour of duty took him to Bari, Italy, where he remained until the end of the war in Europe. He served as Operations Officers of the 15th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron and flew 56 missions over Central Europe. One of these was the 1st flight over Berlin made from an Italian base during the war, made on Jim's own initiative. He was awarded the Silver Star, 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses, 11 Air Medals, plus other war service medals. Discharged as a major, he spent 2 years as C.O. of the Ohio Air National Guard, flying P51s after the war. He was president of the Emswiler Electric Co. and the Lincoln Philatelic Co. in Columbus. He also served as president of the Northeast Optimist and Columbus Philatelic Clubs. A son, Jim was killed at age 22 in an accident while in the Navy during the Vietnam War. A second son, Thomas, graduated from Ohio State with a law degree, became a LTC in the Army and served at NATO in Belgium and six years at the Pentagon. He later became the General Counsel of the Federal Retirement Investment Board in Washington. He is married to Susan and has two children, Philip and Tanya; daughter, Cathy, graduated from Miami University and lives in Bluffton, SC with her husband, David Stokes and their daughter, Victoria. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., May 16, 2015 at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202.
