Wainright Amy (Roberts) Wainright, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Amy was born in Durham, NC on January 30, 1962 and moved to Delaware when she was two years old. She graduated from Delaware Hayes High School in 1980 and from The Ohio State University
in 1984. She taught high school English in Frederick, MD and then worked as an editor for The American Journal of Forestry while pursuing her Master's Degree at American University in Washington, DC. She then moved to the Jacksonville area and landed her dream job, teaching American Literature at the University of North Florida where she was an Associate Professor. Amy was predeceased by an infant daughter Olivia Grace, her maternal grandparents Jack and Alma Lee Adkins, her paternal grandparents Clarence and Florence Roberts and her aunt Doris Foulds. She is survived by her two children, Evan and Grace and their father, Greg Wainright of Sterling, VA. She is also survived by her father, Bruce (Ginny) Roberts of Delaware; her mother, Harriet (Charlie) Costello of Melbourne, FL; fiance, Paul Gerjovich; her brother, Mark of Hilliard; and two uncles, Andy (Myrtie) Adkins of Glen Arm, MD and Kent (Shirley) Roberts of Winchester, VA. Also several cousins. Amy loved her family dearly, as well as her cats, and her students and friends. She was always trying to help people when she saw they were in need or trouble. She loved warm weather, the ocean and nature, always stopping to try and help abandoned or injured animals. A private family burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Amy's Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Amy's memory to The Special Olympics or the Humane Society.
