Bernard C. "Barney" Barnes

Barnes Bernard C. "Barney" Barnes, 82, was born December 19, 1930, at Luna Pier, MI and died following a short illness on November 15, 2013. Barney attended Ohio State University College of Electrical Engineering and worked in the aircraft industry from 1953 to 1991, retiring from North American Aviation/Rockwell International/Boeing as a Quality Control Engineer in Missile Systems Division. Barney was licensed as a "ham" radio operator and was granted the call sign W8KJM in 1951. He achieved the highest level license, Extra Class in 1990. Lifelong learner, Barney earned his Private Pilot License after retirement. An eager traveler, avid computer and electronics experimenter, and a generous volunteer, Barney led an active retirement. Barney was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Edna (Barber) Barnes and survived by his loving wife, June (Ratcliff) Barnes; sister, Janet Gora; and many nieces and nephews.
