Betty J. Slyh

SLYH Betty J. Slyh, age 82, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013. She was born to the late Harold and Helen Fannin on January 12, 1930 in Columbus. Betty was a graduate of Salt Creek High School, Class of 1947. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University. Betty was a teacher at Groveport Elementary, Indianola Elementary, and McGuffy Elementary teaching 1st and 3rd grades. She also taught at Ramey Air Force Base in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Betty was a long time member of the Gahanna Community Congregational Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Fannin and former husband David Slyh. Betty is survived by her loving children, Suzanne Slyh, James Slyh, and Michael (Helen) Slyh; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call from 5- 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at BEECHER Rd.), Gahanna, where the Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013. Rev. Brian McGookey officiating. Interment at Forest Cemetery.
