Betty Jane (Deckard) Ventling

Ventling Betty Ventling. The 88-year mortal life of Betty Jane (Deckard) Ventling was completed on October 24, 2013. A loving mother of four children, Ann, James, Thomas and Paul, she was recently preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold D. Ventling. Born June 1, 1925 in Columbus, the daughter of Everett and Gladys Deckard, Betty graduated from North High School in 1943 and then earned her RN nursing degree from The Ohio state University in 1947. Her career as a Columbus school nurse allowed her to positively impact the lives of many young people. Betty was "Granny" to seven and "Great Grandma" to two. An avid reader, she possessed great humor and kindness, and will live on forever in our hearts. Both Harold and Betty received superb care in their final days at the Kobacker House hospice center. A memorial gathering will be held the afternoon of November 17th at North Congregational UCC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Capital Area Humane Society.
