FERRIS Charles A. "Charlie" Ferris, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 after a brief, yet brave, battle with cancer. He was born June 18, 1948. Charlie graduated from Bishop Watterson High School, Class of 1967, and served our country with honor as a Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force. Charlie returned to Columbus in June to stay with his family during his illness. Charlie lived in Colorado for over 40 years while working for the Rocky Mountain News and the Colorado Department of Transportation at the Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel in Idaho Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert P. and Bertha (Haid) Ferris and brother Robert J. Ferris. He is survived by sisters, Mary Ellen Geyer (Richard) and Bernadette Mason (Richard); and brothers, Edward P. (Kay) and Richard L. (Joyce); sister-in-law, Susanne Ferris; 11 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, friends and caring work associates at the Eisenhower Tunnel. Lodge 2363 in Evergreen, CO, a volunteer and philanthropist, offering his time, energy and resources to many charitable organizations in his local community. His many friends would often comment on what a self-giving person he was to help those less fortunate. He volunteered many years with the "Meals on Wheels" program. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Rd., Upper Arlington, OH at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 26.
