Peterson Christine Peterson of Kensington Place, Columbus, Ohio, died March 3, 2013 at the age of 87. Born Mabel Christine Masterson to Walter E. Masterson and Freeda Baumbach Masterson, she grew up in Oil City, Pennsylvania and graduated from Oil City High School. Her under-graduate degree was from Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA and she did post-graduate work at Indiana University of PA, Mercy Hurst College, Erie, PA, Penn State University
and the University of Massachusetts. Christine married Walter R. Peterson in 1952 and worked as executive secretary at J&L Steel Corporation, Pittsburgh, PA. She became the Food Service Director for the Oil City area school districts and ultimately retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a Child Nutrition Programs Coordinator. Thereafter she was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees. Since 2004 Christine has been a resident of Kensington Place and very much enjoyed her years and many friends there. She loved performing with the Kensingtones and her duets with Chuck. Christine delighted in her twice weekly bridge sessions and the friends with whom she played. Christine was preceded in death by her daughter Kristen Sue at age 9, her husband Walter, and close cousin Edward A Schrag, Jr. She is survived by her cousins, Mrs. Edward A Schrag, Jr., Dr. Amy Schrag (Eric) Prack, Mrs. Kate Schrag (Dan) Roberts, their families; and her dear companion, Dr. Chuck Long and his family. Christine was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held there at 12Noon Saturday March 9, 2013, with a reception to follow at Kensington Place from 1:30-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the "Estate of Christine Peterson" for the Kristen Sue Peterson Memorial Scholarship fund for music students at Westminster College.
