Watkins Jr., Daryl
Daryl Wesley "Dan" Watkins Jr. Born, February 11, 1930 in Athens, Ohio, died January 13, 2018 in Columbus. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Hazlebeck Watkins; daughters, Cathianne Watkins (Jeff Fisher) of Little Rock, Carolee (Dan) Noonan of Columbus; and grandchildren, Will and Sam Fisher, Ben and Delia Noonan. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Daryl and Esther Watkins, and his brother Frank of Florida. Dan was a 1953 civil engineering graduate of Ohio University and a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War and occupation. He worked for General Motors Delco Products in Dayton for 32 years. He volunteered at Kettering hospital and fire department. An elder at Memorial Presbyterian Church, he later joined Fairmont Presbyterian Church. At age 19, Dan became a Blue Lodge Mason in Athens and continued his Masonic service to the 32nd degree in Dayton where he served as High Priest of Victory Chapter. He was also a Shriner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM, 12 W. Carpenter St., Athens, OH 45701, or Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hills Ave, Kettering, OH 45429. A memorial service will be held at Wesley Glen Retirement Community, 5155 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214 on Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m.
