Doris Pearl (Swartzwalder) Thomas

THOMAS Doris Pearl (Swartzwalder) Thomas, 88, of Columbus, went home to the Lord, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at home. She was born March 20, 1924 in Loudonville, OH. She was the 1942 Class Valedictorian in Loudonville, a member of the National Honor Society and Girls Athletic Association. She earned her Bachelor Degree in 1948 from The Ohio State University and was an avid Buckeye fan. She was office manager for the American Rose Society and a founding member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, animals and sewing. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who spent most of her time with her family. Although she will be sorely missed, family and friends are comforted knowing she will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. This is not goodbye, only farewell for now. Doris is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Swartzwalder and her loving husband of 47 years, James L. Thomas. She is survived by children, David Thomas, Rebecca Ellan and Mary (Gernot) Mierbeth; sister, Pauline Swartzwalder; grandchildren, Kiea Arispe, James H. (Alice) Thomas, Joseph D. Schnaudt and Jennafer Schnaudt; cousins, Joyce (Gary) Ellis, Kim and Krissy Wrotten, Leroy and Ethel Ramsey. Family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 5100 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43229. Entombment to follow the service at Kingwood Memorial Park.
