REA Elizabeth Ellen (Matthews) Rea, 77, entered the kingdom of God on January 20, 2010. Those who met her felt an immediate bond because of her ability to love unconditionally. She was born March 19, 1932 to Elsie Keeler Matthews and Marshall Kline Matthews, and was preceded in death by them, as well as her sister Leslie, and brother Marshall, and her son Philip Matthews Rea. Elizabeth "Betty" is survived by her loving children, Jean M. Rea, Columbus, Ellen and Wesley Jacobs, Westerville, J. Cabot and Heather Rea, Westerville, and Carol and Chris Brown, Memphis, TN; along with 12 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Betty attended Otterbein College and graduated with honors from The College of Wooster with a focus in the classics (Greek and Latin). She was a published poet, a pianist and a supporter of the arts. She was employed in the treasurer's office at The College of Wooster before becoming Director of Housing there. Betty was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church in Wooster, a member of P.E.O., as well as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and a community ESL program in Wooster, and for W.A.R.M. and Otterbein College in Westerville. Services will be held on Sunday, January 24 at 4 p.m. at Harlem Road Methodist Church, 5520 Harlem Road, Galena, OH 43021 and on Monday, January 25 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, corner at College Avenue and Bowman Street, Wooster, OH 44691.
