Elmer Benson Lightbourne(1928 - 2014)

Lightbourne Elmer Benson Lightbourne, 86, passed away March 5, 2014. He was born January 28, 1928 in Troy, Ohio to the late James and Margaret Lightbourne. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and was retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Ben was also a proud U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Columbus. Ben loved to golf and enjoyed playing in the Bureau of Bridges Golf League. He was also a Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, of 45 years, Trilby and siblings Becky, Peggy, and James. Ben is survived by his children, Anne Routch and Thomas (Pamela) Lightbourne; grandchildren, Brandon Lightbourne, Brian Lightbourne and Jason (Vanessa) Lightbourne; special friend, Tom Bressler; and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service honoring Ben's life will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215, where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Arrangements entrusted to the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL.
