Francis Martin

Martin Francis "Frank" Martin, 85, of Upper Arlington, entered into rest Monday, June 24, 2013. He was born November 13, 1927 in Cincinnati to the late Floyd and Esther Martin. He graduated from Withrow H.S. in Cincinnati and The Ohio State University where he was a member of the Zeta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta. He served in the U.S. Army 92nd Infantry 2nd Division. Frank worked as an engineer and draftsman in the Dennison Division of Abex and then Multipress. Frank was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was fond of New England and Colonial Williamsburg. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and Labrador Retrievers, especially his beloved Libby. Both he and Marilyn had a love for animals and the outdoors. Frank will be remembered for his intelligence and his fantastic sense of humor. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn in 2011. He is survived by cousins, Robert (Shirley) Edler, Columbus, Sally Edler Scott, San Francisco, CA, Marilyn Edler Underwood, Anaheim, CA, Steve (Kathy) Monroe and Tom (Beverly) Monroe, both of Hickory, NC; nephew, William (Brigid) Lare, Columbus, Eileen Lare, Virginia Beach, Va; and close friends, Jean Shaeffer, Marblehead, OH and Jack and Barbara Weaver, Springfield, OH. Family will receive friends Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH. Entombment Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frank's memory to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct., Hilliard, OH 43026.
