George Charles Russell Jr.

Russell George Charles Russell, Jr., age 82, died Monday, February 11, 2013. He was a devoted family man who filled a room with laughter. Even though George battled Parkinson's disease, he never let it interfere with being part of a large family. He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes and his beloved Chicago Cubs, even spending his 80th birthday with Ernie Banks at a Cubs game. George retired from Sears Roebuck and Co after 42 years of service. He lost his beloved wife, Terry, suddenly in 2006, and he continued her passion for animals and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. He was preceded in death by his parents George C. and Margaret Russell. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Russell of Chicago; children, George (Gale) Russell, III of Wisconsin, Kelley Hutta, Kirk (Kim) Russell and Keri (Josh) Hughes, all of Central Ohio; grandchildren, Lexie, Tori, and Tayce Hutta, Dodge and Doc Hughes, and Jimmy and Kandis Porter; great- grandchildren, Dominic and Elijah; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family invites you to share a piece of George's favorite candy at a visitation on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Dr. Pastor Mebane Pridgen McMahon officiating.
