George Francis Farrell

Farrell George Francis Farrell, 94, died in Columbus Ohio on June 7, 2014. George was born in Superior, Wisconsin on March 10, 1920. He lived, worked and raised his family in Syracuse, New York for over 60 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary Alyce in October 2007 and is survived by five sons, David (Nancy), Greg (Lorna), Mark (Kathi), Kevin (Kim) and Brian (Jackie), and 14 grandchildren. George was a pilot during World War II, flying over 50 missions. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa and an engineer employed by General Electric his entire professional career. He retired from GE after a distinguished career in 1989. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor, teacher and friend. One of his greatest joys was music and he played guitar and was an excellent pianist. George sang in St. Ann's church choir in Syracuse for many years. The family is grateful to the wonderful staff at The Forum at Knightsbrige in Columbus for the kind care and companionship they provided to George. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to The Forum at Knightsbridge or to a . Funeral arrangements are being handled by Edward J. Ryan Funeral Home in Syracuse where services will be held.
