George Frederick Wellman

WELLMAN George Frederick Wellman, age 89, of Gahanna, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012. George was born in Fort Gay, West Virginia and grew up in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Amos and Mary May Wellman. After graduating from Akron East High School, George enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he proudly served his country from 1943-1946. He graduated from The Ohio State University and earned a degree in Fine Arts and helped to pioneer their current Medical Illustrator program. George retired from Motorists Insurance Company, Corporate Communications Dept. He was a devoted member of Pataskala Church of Christ and was a 30 year Board Member for Willow Brook Christian Communities. George was an outgoing man who was constantly curious about things and never wanted to stop learning. He was a great writer, veracious reader, and enjoyed spending time with wife watching trains. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lucretia Wellman; and many other extended family members and loving friends. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 12:30-2:30 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
