Gerardo Donato Fantozzi

Fantozzi Gerardo Donato Fantozzi, age 84, passed away peacefully at the O.S.U. Ross Heart Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday October 27, 2013. Gerardo was born in Alvito, Italy on August 7, 1929. He came to America in 1949. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Elena. They chose Columbus, Ohio as their home. Gerardo, along with his brothers, Carlo and Luigi, worked at National Electric Coil. In 1961, Gerardo and Luigi started L & G Fantozzi Builders. Gerardo started his own company, Helen Homes Builders, Inc. in 1978 where he worked until his retirement in 1993. His love of the building industry was evident in everything he did. He will always be remembered as a self-made man, whose knowledge of the building industry influenced so many other people. He was a most loving and caring husband to his wife, Elena of 61 years. His children and grandchildren will always remember the love, guidance and generosity that he expressed to them. The examples he set will always be a guiding light to his family. Gerardo is preceded in death by his wife Elena, parents Giacomo and Cesidia Fantozzi. His mother-in-law and father-in-law Giovanni and Valeria Capoccia. He is survived by his loving daughters; Ilva (Domenico) Canini, Mary Ann (Bill) Salmons, Lina (Chuck) Eckel; grandchildren, Anita (Adam) Teeters, Gino (Lisa) Canini, Maria (Nick) Mitchell, Christian Salmons and fiancée Katy, Vincent (Ashley) Eckel, Jacqueline (Seth) DeVlugt, Nicholas Eckel; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Anna Teeters, Camden Mitchell, and baby Gianni Donato Eckel on the way; brothers, Carlo and Luigi Fantozzi; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends Wednesday, October 30 at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High Street from 4-8 p.m. Rosary, 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday.
