Herbert Helfrich

HELFRICH Herbert Helfrich, 83, of Henderson, NV, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012, after a sudden illness. He was born February 20, 1929, in Galion, Ohio. Herb moved to Columbus after high school to attend The Ohio State University and met Marlene, his beloved wife of 61 years. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Herb moved his family to Canal Winchester where he raised his three children. During his years there he served on the City Council and was a member of Sertoma. Herb began his career in the grocery business, but later went to work for the State of Ohio. After retiring as Chief of the Department of Agriculture's Food, Drug and Dairy Division, Herb and Marlene moved to Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, Marlene, of Henderson, NV; daughter, Shelley (Mike Effler) of El Segundo, CA; son, Hap, of Delaware, OH; daughter, Lynne, of Henderson, NV; sister, Diana Dominguez, of New York City; and granddaughters Lindsay Effler and Rachel, Sarah, Katie and Maggie Helfrich.
