James P. "Jim" Daugherty

Daugherty James P. "Jim" Daugherty, age 65, of Mount Gilead, formerly of Columbus, died November 12, 2013. On July 28, 1948, Jim was born in Columbus, OH, son of the late William "Doc" and Nellie (Crabbie) Daugherty. In 1969, Jim served his beloved country for 8 years in the U.S. Army, and one year in the U.S. Navy, a veteran of the Vietnam War. For over 15 years, Jim owned and operated U.S.A. Roofing and Remodeling, and was a self-employed carpenter. He also was a truck driver for the Searph 1768 Shop. Formerly, he had been a member of the New Hope Community Fellowship Church in Westerville. Getting a second chance at love, Jim was blessed to be united with Ruth Hollabaugh Daugherty on October 11, 2008, in his favorite placehis own backyard. They cherished every moment of their five years together. Survived by his wife, Ruth Daugherty of Mount Gilead; three step-children, Chris Mulbay, David (Jennifer) Hollabaugh, and Jamie (Nick) Terry; two children, James Daugherty and Cynthia Corrine Daugherty; seven grandchildren; three brothers; Al, Bill, and Dick (Barbara) Cordray; three sisters, Ruthann Balling, Cecilia McClaskey, and Sharon (Oscar) Crum. Preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Daugherty; and three brothers Harry, George and Creed Cordray. Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead, with memorial services following at 4 p.m. Military honors will also be observed.
