Jean Waid Reilly

Reilly Jean Waid Reilly, age 94 of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She was born to the late Robert and Ethel Waid on November 9, 1918. Jean was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She graduated with bachelors and masters degrees from The Ohio State University and was very involved with OSU and her community. She was widely known throughout Columbus for volunteer service in the areas of education, human services, and the arts. She provided leadership in the early development of continuing education at OSU and worked tirelessly for many other organizations including the American Red Cross, Columbus Public Schools, United Community Council, United Way, Volunteer Action Center of Franklin County, YWCA, Ohioana Library Association, and Columbus Symphony Orchestra. She received many awards and citations through the years for her service, culminating in her selection to the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame in 1993. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years and high school sweetheart Judge Archer Reilly, and sisters Betty (Waid) Tague and Barbara (Waid) Argo. She is survived by her loving sons, Stephen Reilly (spouse Joyce Anderson) of Columbus, OH and Thomas Reilly (spouse Judy Reilly) of Westminster, MD; grandchildren, Betsy, Joseph, Michael, and Mary Bridget Reilly. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger RD. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E. N. Broadway, Columbus, OH 43214. Rev. Dr. Deborah Stevens officiating.
