Karl Peter Briich

Briich Karl Peter Briich was an idea man. His 36 years with Westinghouse and Electrolux in the marketing and advertising department drew on his talent as a writer, speaker and all around pitch-man for the company's new products, both domestically and internationally. His great imagination is at rest, as Karl passed away Saturday May 10, 2014 in The Laurels of Norworth in Worthington. He was 97. Born September 19, 1916 in Mansfield to Karl Briich, Sr. and Eva (Dill) Briich, he was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and attended Miami University. His fluency in the German language proved an exceptional asset with the U.S. Army during WWII, and he served with counter intelligence. He worked at The Ohio Brass a couple of years during the depression, but found his niche with Westinghouse. He moved between Mansfield and Columbus and Pittsburgh, at the will of the company, and Karl loved to travel - he was always on a plane - introducing new products, often with a celebrity at his side. An avid golfer, Karl was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Mansfield. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn (Southers) Briich; his daughters, Stephanie Hogg of Owingsville, KY and Suzy Hamaker of Baltimore, MD; and four grandchildren. Visitation Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 350 Marion Avenue, Mansfield (419-525-4411) where his funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery where Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will hold graveside military honors.
