Martha Marie Goodwin

Goodwin Martha Marie Goodwin, died peacefully at the age of 90 on May 13, 2014. She was born July 3, 1923 to Henry W. and Annette (Reidelbach) Schumacher and was the eldest of six daughters. Martha graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1941, a member of the National Honor Society, attended Bliss College and was employed by Hayes Freight Lines. She loved being a lifelong dedicated parishioner of St. Mary's Church in German Village and was active in many parish groups and events. She was a member of the Young at Heart Senior group, the Altar Rosary Society, Belles of St. Mary's and Funeral Choir to name a few. In addition, she was a member of the St. Ladislas Senior Stars and joined them for many day trips. She looked forward to donating her homemade cakes to the yearly Homecoming Festival at St. Mary's. Martha was named St. Mary's Volunteer of the Year in 2007 after spending many years assisting in the school's library. She and her husband Bill shared square dancing, traveling and volunteering at the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad. Martha is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years William, her sisters Loretta, Mary Questel and Joan Maricevich, her son-in-law Don Martin and nephew Mark Maricevich. She is survived by her four children, Greg (Cindy), Dennis (Linda), Bernadette Martin, and Ken (Delores); sisters, Teresa (Robert) Erickson and Annette Wonn; brothers-in-law, Tony Maricevich and Louis Questel; grandchildren, Ryan (Tianna), Alex, Spencer and Emily Goodwin, Megan and Michelle Martin; stepgrandchildren include Matt and Andrea Tschirner, Tiffany Cleaver, Sara (Wil) Aguilar. She was also blessed with 14 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Westminster Thurber Community for their kindness and gentle care and to HomeReach Hospice for their compassion during Martha's final days.
