Marti Rosenfield Goorey

GOOREY Marti Rose Rosenfield Goorey, age 77, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, November 1, 2012 at her home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was born on November 10, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio. Marti was a graduate of Bexley High School, received her Bachelor's degree in Education from The Ohio State University, and completed her Master's degree in Special Education from Florida Atlantic University. She was honored to be a member of the Phi Kappa Delta sorority. Marti was a dedicated educator; teaching in the Worthington (Ohio) School district until 1978 and the St. Lucie County (Florida) district until she retired in 1998. Continuing her service to education after retirement, Marti received outstanding volunteer for St. Lucie schools. Marti was an avid reader, traveler, and family genealogist. But first and foremost "Grandma Beach" was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who passionately cherished her family and friends. Marti's other passion was for her dogs, Rascal and Poco, lovingly nicknaming them her "boys". Marti is survived by daughters, Susan (George) Petrak and Sharon (Brian) Starr; grandsons, Aaron (Hanni) Siegel, David (Kathryn) Siegel, Michael Starr, Matthew Starr, and Alex Petrak. She had two great-grandchildren, Maceo Siegel and Leo Siegel. Nieces and nephews, extended family, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Sylvia Rosenfield, and her brother and sister-in-law Ralph Sr. and Elsie Rosenfield. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL 6699 N. High St (1/2 mile south of 270).Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
