Mary Jane Carpenter

Carpenter Mary Jane Carpenter, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Hilton Head Island, SC, died on March 2, 2014 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, OH. She was born on August 21, 1933 in Stamford, CT, attended Stamford High School and the University of Connecticut at Storrs. She lived in Stamford with an accounting career at American Cyanamid Company until she married Wm. Graham Carpenter in 1965. Mary Jane and Graham lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and South Carolina. Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Annie) and Michael (Becky) Carpenter; and one granddaughter, Stella A. Carpenter, all of Westerville, OH; her sister, Patricia Baker of Marshfield, MA; and five nieces and one nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wm. Graham Carpenter, daughter Julia Ellen Carpenter, who was a teacher at Hilton Head Middle School, and granddaughter Ellen Krista Carpenter. Mary Jane was a devout Catholic, dedicated volunteer, and an avid bridge player, retiring to Hilton Head in 1995. Funeral mass and burial took place in Bluffton, SC.
