Jordan Mildred Elaine Jordan, age 91, beloved aunt and great-aunt, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2013 in Columbus, OH. She was born November 22, 1921 in Columbus, OH to the late Albert W. and Dorothy M. (Deems) Jordan; also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jerauld Melland. Mildred is survived by her nephew, Jay (Deborah) Melland, of Midlothian, VA and their children, Caroline (Dan) Salgado, Jordan Melland and Kelsey Melland; and her niece, Linda Milland Sivesind, of Oslo, Norway and her son, Dag (Trude) Sivesind. Mildred graduated from Westgate High School, attended business school and worked as a comptometer operator at General Motors
from 1952 to 1978 when she retired. She was a faithful member of Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church, having served as an elder and a deacon. Mildred also taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years and continued to do her daily devotions until recently. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, where she was past president of the Flambeau and Voyager Chapters. Mildred loved to golf and was a member of the Hickory Hills Golf Course. She was also keenly interested in genealogy, tracking both sides of her family back many generations, keeping meticulous notes and gleaning information from a variety of sources. She maintained her independence for many years as a resident of Friendship Village of Dublin, where she resided since 1991. A service celebrating Mildred's life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204 where family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m.; interment to follow in Sunset Cemetery.
