Paul F. Wiess

WIESS Paul F. Wiess. Beloved husband of 65 years of Christine Smith Wiess and loving father of Mark (Hilla Zerbst) Wyss of Cincinnati and Matthew (Marcie) Wyss of San Francisco and loving grandfather of Jesse Wyss, Cassie (Michael) Noltnerwyss, Wiley Wyss, and Liley Wyss. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Zea Sevior Noltnerwyss and Edie Sora Noltnerwyss. Paul was preceded in death by his son Michael Jeffrey Wiess, his parents Mary Ethel Wiess and Henry W. Wiess, his brothers Henry True (June) Wiess, Wynn W. (Aileen) Wiess, B. Chris (Joyce) Wiess and his sister Ruth (Paul) Bassett. Paul died at the age of 87 years on January 13, 2013. Paul was graduated from Grandview Heights High School, the Ohio State University, and Xavier University. Paul served on two different ships in United States Coast Guard in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during World War II. He was a career teacher beginning in the Huntington Local Schools in Ross County, Ohio and later in the Columbus Public Schools where he taught at the Marion Franklin High School, South High School, and Centenial High School. Following his retrement from teaching Paul worked ten years for Chatham Communicators. During his life he volunteered for several non-profit organizations including Red Cross Disaster Services and Suicide Prevention Services. He also was active in the Columbus Navy League. A celebration of his life will be held at the Fawcett Center in the Alumni Room, 2400 Olentangy River Rd. on Monday, January 28 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Red Cross Central-Southeast Region.
