Murphy Robert "Bob" Eugene Murphy, 85, formerly of Grove City, OH, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2013, at Kobacker House. He was born February 22, 1928, in Columbus, OH. On June 23, 1948, he married the love of his life, Patricia Cheney. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his parents Floyd and Louise (Huffman) Murphy and his beloved daughter Gayle Murphy on November 19, 2010. Bob attended North High School, and followed a career with American Electric Power, and Ohio State University
in Electrical Maintenance, retiring in 1991. Bob enjoyed working with Boy Scouts, achieving awards as Scoutmast. Bob and Pat were also foster parents for years. In 1973, Bob and Pat moved to Chillicothe, OH, to start a restaurant called "Murphy's Inn". During that time he also worked with his brother as an Electrical Estimator, and Electrician. They returned to Columbus in late 1970's. Bob loved sports, especially the Buckeyes, camping, traveling with Pat in their motor home, and playing cards with their many friends. All of whom will miss them greatly. Surviving Bob is his son, Tim (Peg) Murphy of Tucson, Arizona; granddaughters, Kelly (Tim) Potter of Columbus and Amanda (Gabriel) Maynes of Tucson, AZ; grandson, Timothy Murphy Jr. of Tucson, AZ. He had seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Evelyn, Sarah, Wyatt, Annika, Adalyn and Aubrey; brother, Lerman (Joann) Huffman of Chillicothe OH; as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is "special daughter", Marguerite Tucker of Charlotte, North Carolina. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, with Pastor Jeff Bane officiating. Donations can be made to the Gayle Murphy Silent Weekend Scholarship Fund at Columbus State Community College.
