Robert William Proctor

Proctor Robert William Proctor, 76, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2013. He grew up in Bay City, Michigan where he graduated from T.L. Handy H.S. and attended Bay City Junior College. He graduated from Michigan State University majoring in Police Administration. After graduating, Robert went into the U.S. Army and served as an MP. Following the military he worked and retired after 35 years service for the Ohio Youth Commission, now called the Ohio Department of Youth Services. He earned his masters in social work from OSU in 1968. As a devoted member of the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church he was in the Chancel Choir and Men's Chorus and volunteered at the Parsons Avenue Methodist Free Store. Preceded in death by parents James Arthur and Ethel Luetta (Costin) Proctor, sisters Helen Louise Kay and infant Joan Proctor. Robert is survived by wife, Freda (Caplinger) Proctor; daughter, Lisa Proctor; sister, Mary (Bill) Proctor Dess; nephews, Karl (Sharon) Kay, Robert Kay, Stephen Kay, William, Gregory, David and Mark Dess; niece, Nancy Dess; cousin, Charles (Karen) Costin. His family will receive friends Friday, February 22, from 6-8 p.m. at COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 East Main St., Reynoldsburg. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m Saturday at Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, 1636 Graham Road, Reynoldsburg. Interment following at Grove City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to either Hospice Services at Methodist ElderCare, 1550 Old Henderson Rd., Suite E212, Columbus, Ohio 43220, or the Kober Endowment Fund at Reynoldsburg United Methodist.
