Roscoe C. Hinkle Ph.D.(1921 - 2013)

Hinkle, Ph.D. Roscoe C. Hinkle, Ph.D., passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at First Community Village. Born March 13, 1921 in Union Deposit, Pennsylvania to the late Roscoe C. and Martha B. Hinkle. At the start of WWII, Dr. Hinkle was selected for Alternative Service in an Experiment in Semi-Starvation. Today, those findings are being used to assist those with eating disorders. His education included: an undergraduate degree from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, his Master's Degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Hinkle was Professor Emeritus in Sociology with The Ohio State University. He is survived by his loving wife Gisela Hinkle, Ph.D.; children, Monica S. Baker, Brian D. (Maura) Hinkle and Kevin C. Hinkle; granddaughters, Kelly G. and Jennifer M. Hinkle. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Friday, November 29, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. in Upper Arlington where a Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, where $10.00 provides 40 meals.
