Susan Yeardley Smith, age 73, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Westerville, Ohio. Received a Bachelors Degree in Education from The Ohio State University and completed extensive postgraduate coursework. Her teaching career spanned a number of years at both the Worthington and Columbus school districts. She had a passion for helping adults learn to read and tutored for many years at the Columbus Literacy Council. She was an artist and was known for her love of books. Survived by her loving husband, William; daughter, Emily (Jeffrey) Syar; grandsons, Patrick Syar and Michael Kane; sister, Barbara Pennington; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by daughter Stacy Anne (Robert) Kane, father Robert L. Yeardley, mother Evelyn P. Yeardley, sister Nancy Stout, father-in-law Milan L. Smith and mother-in-law Stella L. Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville, where family will receive friends one hour prior to service. I'm going to miss my breakfast buddy. We would go to Bob Evans monthly to catch up on life. I enjoyed those moments with her and will miss her very much. Rest in peace Sue.
