DISBENNETT Thaylia "Ti" Disbennett, age 73, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Regency Hospital. She was a long time resident of Gahanna. Ti was born in Marietta, OH on March 18, 1939, to the late Howard and Doris Straley. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School, 1957. She then earned her Bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude, in Journalism from Ohio University with a teaching certificate in English and Journalism and graduated in special ceremonies with her mother in 1962. She contributed news as an undergraduate with the Athens Messenger and while on leave from the university she worked as a general assignment reporter
and pages editor for the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette. Upon graduation, she was a general assignment reporter for The Columbus Dispatch, and a staff writer for the United Press International. In her 31 plus years with Nationwide Insurance, she was writer/editor for the employee news publication, The Dividend, and worked with marketing publications and the Public Employees Benefits Service Corporation as a writer/editor. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lee Disbennett; siblings, Carol Lee Straley, Howard Scott Straley, Mary Martha Rudolph; nieces, Kristen Ann Straley and Kimberley Ann Rudolph; and many wonderful friends. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.). An informal Celebration of Life for Ti will be led by David Cole and Chad Disbennett at 7 p.m., during the calling hours. The family has requested that all guests please stay for the celebration where wonderful memories and laughter will be shared. A committal service will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Mifflin Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Ti's memory may be made to the ASPCA, P.O.
