Vencil Victor Holbrook

Holbrook Vencil Victor Holbrook, of Columbus, Ohio, 93, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Emeritus Outlook Manor in Westerville, Ohio. Vencil was born on July 5, 1920 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Pleasant and Anna Holbrook and raised in Wheelersburg, Ohio. After graduating from high school, Vencil moved to Washington, DC to work at the Naval Gun Factory in support of the World War II effort. There he met the love of his life, Ruby Herrod. He and Ruby were married for 67 years. Vencil retired with over 30 years of service from The Ohio State University Physics Department. He was a member and Deacon of North Linden Baptist Church for 56 years, and a 50-year member of the Linden Lodge. Vencil was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and loved to restore classic cars. He was also a lifelong fan of the OSU Buckeyes. Vencil was preceded in death by his parents Pleasant and Anna Holbrook, brothers Haskel and Ancil Holbrook, son Victor Holbrook. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Holbrook; daughter, Susan Holbrook Livingston; son, Phillip Holbrook; son-in-law, Randy Livingston and daughters-in-law, Lyn Holbrook and Terri Holbrook; grandchildren, Sarah Livingston Larson (Leif), Amanda Livingston Barberio (Kevin), Ross Holbrook, Lane Holbrook, and Colleen Holbrook; great-granddaughter, Sydney Barberio; sisters, Parma Morefield and Lola Coburn; and brother, Donald Holbrook (Betty); many loving nieces, nephews, church family and neighbors. Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 8 from 2- 4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home, 220 S. State St., Westerville, OH with the Funeral service held on Wednesday, October 9 at North Linden Baptist Church, 1783 Melrose Ave., Columbus, Ohio at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Burial Park, 10556 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, Ohio at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Linden Baptist Church in Vencil's memory.
