Verna Mae Belcher

Belcher Verna Mae Belcher, age 96, of Sparta, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Bennington Glen. Born in Columbus on January 19, 1918 to the late Milo J. and Ethel E. (Baker) Condit. In 1936 she graduated from Sparta High School. Verna married Raymond Belcher in 1936, together they shared 46 wonderful years, raising a family and operating Belcher's General Store in Sparta. Raymond passed away in 1982. Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved children, Don (Gladys) Belcher of Sparta, Ken (Marlene) Belcher of Lima, Debbie (Bill) Young of Marengo, Carla Emmons of Marion; 15 grandchildren, Shad (Joyce) Weikel, Shawn (Kelly) Weikel, Marsha (David) Welle, Greg (Kathy) Belcher, Sherri (William) Johnson, Tim (Teresa) Belcher, Todd (Shannon) Belcher; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Also preceded by her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Roger Weikel, brothers Earl, Milo, and Eldon Condit as well as sisters Violet Lee and Donna Fox. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, SR's 3 at 61, Sunbury, where service will follow 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery.
