Charles Richard Brading

Brading Charles Richard Brading, 81, of Wapakoneta died Friday, September 30, 2016, at Celina Manor. Charlie is survived by his wife, Sandra (Berry) Brading whom he married on June 28, 1963; and their three children William (Maria) Brading, Sarah (Derek Bauer) and Amanda (Jason Lockwood); and weven grandchildren. A 1953 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta, Charlie was a graduate of Ohio Northern University School of Pharmacy class of 1957. After graduation Charlie went to work for his father at Rhine and Brading Pharmacy in Wapakoneta and purchased the store from him in 1971. Through the years he was active in the Northwest Ohio Pharmaceutical Association, serving as President in 1969. In 1976 he was appointed to the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy by Governor Rhodes and served through 1984; serving as President 1979-80. Charlie was proud to be a lifelong resident of Wapakoneta and spent much of his working life promoting and serving his community. He served as Mayor from 1988 - 1991 when he was appointed to the Ohio House of Representatives. He would represent the people of the 86th District until 2000 when term limits forced his retirement. For the remainder of his career he served as the Legislative Liaison for the Ohio School Facilities Commission from 2001 to 2009. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at First English Lutheran Church, 107 W. Mechanic St., Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the BAYLIFF ELEY FUNERAL HOME, 1102 Lincoln Ave., (St. Rt. 501), Wapakoneta, and 1 hour prior to the service, Wednesday at the church.
